One of the most effective catalysts for peace and reconciliation is hope. Today, hope in Rwanda is found in its coffee cooperatives. Coffee has played an important role for many Rwandans in transforming their lives, communities and country toward reconciliation and prosperity.

Our tours focus first on the history and political context of Rwanda, followed by an in-depth look at the struggle and hope created through the revitalized coffee industry. Finally, we’ll wind up our adventure in Rwanda with a visit to the must-see Volcanoes National Park, home to the Mountain Gorillas.

Political background:

  • Official briefing at the United States Embassy about the current political and economic situation in Rwanda
  • Visit the Forest People’s Project, which in partnership with the Community of Indigenous Rwandans, the FPP helps Rwanda’s third ethnic group, the Batwa. Visit several genocide memorial and educational centers

Coffee education:

  • Witness the colorful coffee process from tree to cup.
  • Meet with farmers to understand how coffee is offering hope to Rwandans.
  • Visit several farming communities to connect with their challenges and opportunities

Adventure and tourism:

  • Shop in traditional markets and amazing artisan coops
  • Visit the spectacular Volcanoes National Park and see the Mountain Gorillas
